3D Optical Laser Scanner

In line with our continual review and research of the latest techniques and innovations that constantly become available in the podiatry profession, we have for some time been looking at a new type of scanning system “3D optical laser scanning” to work in conjunction with our existing “vertical loading pressure analysis, Gait Scan system” We think we have now found that in the “Sharpe Shape 3D Optical Laser Scanner”

The Laser scans the foot with a red laser to capture a 3 dimensional image and measures the foots contours and dimensions exactly which can then be sent to an orthotic laboratory accompanied by the prescription from the podiatrist where your orthotics are manufactured to what is exactly the right prescription for your feet to treat your foot condition and resolve your pain as soon as possible. 

We have also forged a partnership with a new orthotic laboratory “foothealth orthotics” who are an established orthotic laboratory in Southern Ireland that have recently relocated, and made their head office in the UK opening a new laboratory here as well.
“ Foothealth Orthotics” are fully conversant in the manufacture of prescription orthotics and laser scanning and produce top quality orthotics. 

This is a valuable addition to our existing Gait Scan laboratory. The use of both of these laboratories gives us more options in prescription and manufacture to make sure our orthotics are exactly the right choice for you.

What are prescription foot orthotics?

Prescription orthotics can help relieve your discomfort by realigning and stabilizing the bones in your feet, in turn restoring your natural walking pattern.

What is a computerised Gait Scan?
A computerised Gait Scan is a pressure plate that is attached to a computer, The technology assists us in analysing your gait and detecting unusual foot function which may be affecting the rest of your body.

How does a computerised Gait Scan work?

2. Maps Foot Pressure
From your step the computer then displays on it's screen, 2-D and 3-D visual representations of the pressures under your feet.

3. Prints Report
This information is also summarized in an analysis report that can be printed for you to see. The report findings will help us evaluate your foot function and determine if the symptoms you are experiencing are related to faulty foot mechanics.

4. Determines the need for Orthotic Therapy
This information will assist in determining the need for orthotic therapy, and will aid the lab in manufacturing orthotics to support your feet.
